This page is a cautious description of the browser storage and tracking behavior reviewed for Hookwise at the effective date. It is not attorney-approved legal advice. If the site adds optional analytics, advertising tools, or a consent choice, this notice should be updated.
What cookies and similar storage do
A cookie is a small value a website or a service can store in a browser. Similar browser storage, including local storage and session storage, can remember a choice on one device. These technologies can support sign-in, security, preferences, saved progress, and referral attribution. They are different from the fishing records stored in your Hookwise account.
Essential platform and session technologies
The platform supporting Hookwise may use cookies or similar session technologies to keep authentication, account requests, security checks, uploads, and page delivery working. These technologies may help recognize an active session, prevent abuse, or remember a temporary state. Blocking them can prevent sign-in or make account features unavailable.
Browser storage used by Hookwise features
Local storage
Some features save information in your browser, such as quiz scores, classroom progress during a transition, liked posts or comments, and a daily fishing insight cached for the day.
Session storage
Temporary browser state may be used for selected site flows. Session storage normally clears when the browser session ends, but browser behavior can vary.
Clearing browser storage can remove local quiz history, cached advice, and like preferences, and may sign you out or require a site feature to start again.
Analytics and advertising snapshot
At the effective date, the Hookwise site code reviewed for this notice does not intentionally load a separate analytics vendor or advertising pixel. This statement does not mean the hosting, authentication, security, or content infrastructure keeps no technical logs. If optional analytics or advertising tracking is added later, Hookwise should update this notice before relying on that practice.
Third-party content and links
Hookwise can link to articles, referral destinations, affiliate providers, and other services. A third party may use its own cookies, pixels, local storage, or referral codes after you follow a link or load its content. Hookwise does not control those practices. Review the destination's privacy and cookie information before continuing. The Affiliate Disclosure explains how qualifying referrals may support the free platform.
Your browser controls
Most browsers let you view, delete, block, or limit cookies and site storage through privacy settings. Browser controls vary by device and browser version. Blocking all storage can change how Hookwise works, especially account and saved-progress features. You can also use a private browsing window, but it may not preserve your preferences after the window closes.
Hookwise does not currently display a separate cookie-consent banner or offer a site-level preference center. This notice should be updated if that changes.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice when browser storage, platform services, referral links, or tracking practices change. The newest version will show a new effective date. Review it when you use Hookwise after a material update.
