1. What this policy covers

This Privacy Policy applies to Hookwise pages, tools, community features, profiles, saved fishing content, the newsletter signup, and related communications. Hookwise is a free service. The site does not currently ask for payment information or operate a paid membership offer, so this policy does not describe payment collection.

2. Information you provide or create

Depending on which features you use, Hookwise may receive:

• Account and profile information: information connected to an account, such as an email address, display name, avatar, and account identifier.
• Community contributions: fishing reports, questions, answers, comments, recipes, display names, catch details, locations, techniques, and photos you choose to post.
• Fishing and saved content: fishing logs, trip plans, favorite species, saved answers, classroom progress, quiz results, achievements, and the tool inputs or notes you choose to save.
• Newsletter information: an email address submitted through the newsletter form. The current form adds that address to the contact system with a newsletter tag and a landing-page source note.
• Messages to us: information you include when you email hello@hookwisehq.com.

Please do not submit passwords, government identification numbers, payment card details, medical information, or other sensitive information in community posts, fishing logs, AI prompts, or email unless it is necessary to resolve a specific request.

3. Information handled when the site runs

When your browser loads a page or makes an account, content, upload, or tool request, the hosting, authentication, storage, email, content, and security infrastructure supporting Hookwise may process basic technical information needed to return the page, protect the service, troubleshoot failures, and prevent abuse. This can include an IP address, browser or device details, timestamps, request information, and error records. Ira Spicer does not use this policy to promise that platform infrastructure keeps no logs.

The current site code reviewed for this policy does not intentionally add a separate analytics vendor or advertising pixel. Platform and third-party services can still have their own technical practices. Read the Cookie and Tracking Notice for the current browser-storage description.

4. How Hookwise uses information

Information may be used to:

• Provide accounts, profiles, tools, lessons, saved records, community pages, photo uploads, and other features you request.
• Show your community contributions to other visitors when you choose to post them in a public area.
• Personalize features such as daily fishing insights using information you have saved, such as favorite species and recent fishing activity.
• Send newsletter updates when you submit your email to the newsletter list, and respond to questions or support requests.
• Maintain security, investigate abuse, enforce the Terms of Service and Community Guidelines, and keep the service working.
• Understand errors and improve pages, tools, content, and the community experience.
• Meet legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, or protect people, property, and the service.

5. AI-assisted features

Some Hookwise tools use AI to generate fishing suggestions, explanations, or other output. When you use one of those features, the information needed to produce the requested result may be sent through the platform's AI infrastructure. For example, the daily insight feature can use the current date, season, moon phase, favorite species, and a short summary of recent fishing activity. AI output may be wrong or incomplete, so do not submit sensitive information and do not treat an AI response as a private conversation, professional advice, or a live safety alert.

6. Public and account-only content

No online service can promise absolute privacy. If something appears visible when you expected it to stay private, email us promptly with the page address and details.

7. When information may be shared

Hookwise may share information in these situations:

• When you make it public: community content is shared with visitors as part of the feature you used.
• With service providers: providers that support hosting, authentication, storage, content, email, contact management, AI processing, security, and site operations may process information for those purposes.
• With third-party destinations: clicking an affiliate, referral, article, or other external link takes you to a provider with its own privacy practices. Hookwise does not control that provider.
• For legal and safety reasons: information may be disclosed when required by law or when reasonably needed to address fraud, abuse, security, threats, or protection of rights.

Hookwise does not currently sell personal information as a product. This statement does not override a provider's own practices after you leave Hookwise.

8. Retention, deletion, and requests

Information is generally kept while it is needed to provide the feature, maintain an account, communicate with you, protect the service, resolve a dispute, or meet a legal obligation. Public posts may remain in other people's screenshots, copies, replies, or links after you remove the original. Backups and security records may also take time to change.

Email hello@hookwisehq.com to ask for access, correction, or deletion of information associated with your account, or to ask us to remove a community contribution. We may need to verify the request. We will review it under the records we control and explain if a legal, security, backup, or other reason means some information must remain. Hookwise does not currently provide a separate automated data-export tool.

9. Newsletter and marketing choices

The newsletter form collects an email address so Hookwise can send fishing tips, updates, and related messages. You can stop newsletter messages by using an unsubscribe option if one appears in the message or by emailing hello@hookwisehq.com with the subject “Unsubscribe.” We may still send a short service or request-related reply when needed.

10. Children's privacy

Hookwise is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child submitted information, email hello@hookwisehq.com so we can review the situation.

11. Security limits

We use the security controls available through the platform and service providers that support Hookwise. Internet transmission, browser storage, email, and electronic storage can still be exposed to risks outside our control. Do not use Hookwise to store information that requires a higher level of security than this free community service can provide.

12. Cookies and tracking

Hookwise and the platform may use essential session technologies and browser storage to keep account flows and site features working. The site code reviewed for this policy does not intentionally add a separate analytics or advertising pixel. Third-party destinations may use their own cookies or tracking after you follow a link. Read the Cookie and Tracking Notice for practical details and browser controls.

13. Changes to this policy

Hookwise may update this policy when the site, platform providers, or data practices change. The newest version will be posted here with a new effective date. If a change is important, we may also call attention to it within the service when practical.
